Round nine of the GrandPrix Online championship will be held at the relatively new Valencia Circuit, after a short trip to  North America. Both Cordes and Rice are looking to match their victories in this Grand Prix, but the competition is fierce.

The Track

The Circuito Urbano de Valencia is 5.440 meters long and features a total of 25 corners. Thirteen of them bend to the right. Challenge drivers will be driving 57 laps, whilst the Sprint drivers have to complete a total of 29 laps around this difficult and demanding track.

The Circuito Urbano de Valencia is not famous for the spectacular races we saw in the past years. Perhaps the first visit of the Grand Prix Online paddock will change this. Only two corners have been marked as overtaking possibility, namely corner 12 and 17.

The Race

Challenge Qualify will start at  18:45 GMT, whilst the qualifying session for the sprint race will be the next Sunday at 9:00 GMT.

Silverstone     By Nick Oldenhuis     GP-O

This year will venue a brand new lay-out at the Silverstone track. Some corners were sacrificed to benefit the Motor racers safety, and were replaced by fast sweeping corners and a hairpin. Sceptics were weary about these changes, because Silverstone was perfect the way it was, according to them. Are these changes really that good? GPO Press had the opportunity to walk around the new track and  experience it.

What is new?

The last race Silverstone venued, drivers had to take a left turn into Abbey. The tarmac between Abbey and Priory won’t be driven again this year, as Bridge corner was dangerous to motor drivers. Now drivers have to make a fast right turn leading up to a fast, but not really challenging section, ended by the new “Arrowhead” hairpin. It is this corner that probably allows overtaking moves.

Round up

All in all, the new layout is not the most challenging aspect of Silverstone, but in general it is a nice new feature, which the drivers appreciate. In a few days we will know who shall be crowned as King of New Silverstone.
